Meet the Bernese Mountain Dog. He/she is a large, strong, sturdy, and agile dog. This beautiful breed is known for its tricolor, water-resistant, coat of black, rust, and white. Their base color is black; with white on the chest, head, toes and tip of its bushy tail; while the rust is on the cheeks, a dot over each eye, on the side of their chest, on all four legs and underneath the tail (as you can see from these pictures). Aren't they beautiful??
Not only are these dogs beautiful, but they are very intelligent and easy to train as well. They are natural watchdogs, without being overly dominant, which makes them perfect to have around children. This breed actually loves children and are known to be friends for life. Like any other breed, they must be socialized well as puppies and trained firmly, but gently, as they are a sensitive breed. Due to this, they must also be kept around people and not simply put in a backyard or a kennel. They must also be taught who's the alpha of the pack, to avoid confusion and disobedience.
Overall, they are a beautiful, intelligent, and strong breed that was bred to work, so make sure you are able to give them enough exercise. They are also loyal, friendly, and obedient when trained and socialized correctly. I can't wait until I am able to own my own dog. What about you readers? What is your favorite breed?
