Everybody JUMP! JUMP!

This should've been posted on Friday, July 18th, but I was busy and didn't really get online much this past weekend. Which is why I'm posting it now.

After having dinner at a very nice and quite Cuban resturnate on Christopher, my girlfriend and I went to watch 'JUMP', which is an off-broadway show. While the title did lead me to expect something else, the show was still rather entertaining.

JUMP isn't only about jumping, which is what I originally thought, but instead its a comedy which incorporates martial arts into all the roles. It has jumping, fighting, flipping, and laughs throughout the entire show. The cast consist of six main characters (the wise grandfather, drunken uncle, beautiful daughter, the suitor, and of course the mother and father), who love to practice their martial arts throughout the day.

After a long day of practicing their martial arts at the grandfather's request, they get to put their skills to the test when their house is broken into by two robbers that night. These two criminals only add to the comedy and action. We see the cast fight eachother and then at the end of everything, they all perform some amazing flips and jumps. Make sure to check out their site in order to see some great pictures, videos, and a lot more! Go check it out;

FINALLY!!!

After months of waiting for this movie, I have FINALLY seen The Dark Knight. With all the opening shows sold out, I was able to catch the 11:15am showing on Sunday, July 20th. Although I was extremely tired because of a late night baby shower the day before, we still got up in order to go watch it.

To say the movie was good, would be an understatement. The movie was awesome! Joker, hands down, had the best role in my opinion, Ledger (R.I.P.) did a GREAT performance.

While being a fan of the previous Batman movies (since I grew up watching them) I love Christopher Nolan's remakes. The other batman movies were good for my childhood, but Nolan has made the new ones dark and fitting for this day and age.

Same goes for the Joker. The Joker which Jack Nicholson portrayed back in the day was great in its own respect. His Joker was more of the funny/silly jokester. While Nolan's Joker is simply a psychopathic killer with no morals or reason for doing what he does. This dark, evil Joker is extremely different from Jacks', but I loved it! Ledger's mannerisms and portrayal of the Joker is great! He truly became the role.

The entire film was awesome, from start to end. The story line which unfolds throughout the movie is great and probably the best story line I've seen to date in a superhero movie. You have three main people in the film, Harvey Dent (Gotham City's new DA), Bruce Wayne (who struggles throughout the movie with whether Gotham City still needs/wants Batman) and the heart of the movie, The Joker (who wants to give Gotham a 'new/better' class of criminal). We see these three characters clash throughout the movie. Although not always directly in contact with one another, their actions always seem to effect one of the others.

I think that these roles all held deeper meanings which reflex our society. For example, Harvey was the White Knight who everyone looked up to because he stood for what was right. Batman was the Dark Knight who the people needed, although they casted him as a vigilante. Then we have the Joker who simply did not care or stand for anything, his sole purpose was to show the down falls of society.
I've rambled on long enough, if you haven't seen it yet, GO WATCH IT!!! If your like me and already saw it, go see it AGAIN! For all those who have not seen the movie in IMAX, make sure you do. It's AMAZING!

What a Day, What a Day!

This post is a little late, but it is about the day I had on Sunday, July 6th.

I get myself and little brother out of bed early in order to head out to Hurricane Harbor, which is about 1.5/2 hours away from home. After getting ready, we head out to meet up with the other people who are going with us. To my surprise, it goes from being six people to ten. It was fine with me though, because at least there were two cars, the only annoying thing was the fact that I was leading the second car to Jersey because they did not know how to get out there. So we head out to Jersey and luckily there isn't much traffic. With 20 minutes left to make it to our destination, the person following me calls up my car and tells us to get out on the next gas exit. Reluctantly, we get out and head to the nearest gas station because apparently they did not have enough to make the 20 minute ride. To make a long story short; after pumping gas, her car won't start and we have to end up pushing it to the parking lot of the gas station. Not only did the car not start, but the cable to pop open the hood broke. So then we couldn't get the car to start or the hood to open. I got my hand smashed by the hood of my car trying to figure something out and we spent about four hours or so sitting in that gas station. After those four hours and another event that needs not be mentioned, we (the five in my car) decided it was best to just head home. Once we made it back into the city, I suggested we all go see Hancock, just so the day wouldn't be a complete waste, thankfully, everybody agreed with me.
Hancock was a great ending to the day. Luckily it wasn't a bad movie and everybody was pleased by it. Although it wasn't what I expected at the end, I was really happy with the story line and Will's performance.

The movie itself is about this guy, Hancock, who has super powers. He doesn't seem to care much for himself or the city, since he's always drinking and destroying the city while trying to 'help'. The reason for the quotations is because he does stop the bad guys but while doing so he causes major damage to the city. Major damage which resulted in millions of dollars.

Not to give away too much of the film, Hancock saves this guy's life and as a token of his appreciation, he tries to rebuild Hancock's imagine. He wants to make Hancock into a super hero and make the people love him. It does take Hancock some time to commit to the adjustment he has to make, but in the end it all pays off. I think its a wonderful movie and would highly recommend anyone to go check it out. It has a great twist in it that I think everybody won't see coming. Definitely a good movie to catch!

No Wall-E No..

I can't believe how disappointed I was with Wall-E. Although it was funny at times and it was cute for the little ones, it turned out not to be as great as I expected it to be.

I know I know, the kids loved it and the parents did too, but I didn't enjoy it. I don't know why, but I was sitting there watching the movie and just couldn't bring myself to like the story line.

Now, I do recommend it for the kids because of its message; however, I won't be buying it once it hits DVDs. The story line wasn't what I expected and definitely doesn't stand up to a great film like Nemo for example.

While I didn't enjoy it, I know my little brother did, along with all the other kids in the theater that morning. So if you decide to go see the movie, you have been warned, it is not that great in my opinion. Let me know how you feel, perhaps you might love it!!
